August 15, 1870 - At Comanche Crossing (Strasburg, Colorado), the final spike for the first continuous transcontinental railroad was driven on , marking a major milestone in American rail development.
August 15, 1876 - Colorado achieved statehood, becoming the 38th U.S. state. This date is commemorated annually as Colorado Statehood Day (Now Aug 1st).
August 15, 1911 - Rocky Mountain National Park was established, safeguarding over 300 miles of trails and spectacular mountain landscapes.
